Natalie Stephanie Can, born in Munich with German and Peruvian heritage, discusses her journey of adapting to diverse cultures, motherhood, and her passions for fitness, nutrition, photography, and travel. She offers insights on managing a busy life and finding joy amidst challenges.
Growing up with both German and Peruvian backgrounds and living in Lima and Spain, how have these diverse cultures influenced your identity and worldview?
Growing up with two different cultures has profoundly shaped my identity. It taught me to see life from various perspectives and fostered my emotional growth. Today, I am strong, resilient, and value both myself and others. The blend of optimism and creativity from Latin America and the organization and punctuality from Germany enhances my daily life, especially as a mother.
You mentioned being a chameleon in adapting to changes. Can you share some specific experiences that have shaped this ability in you?
I had my first child at 23, which was a challenging transition. Without close family in Germany, balancing jobs and kindergarten schedules taught me independence. Each job change was a stepping stone to where I am now.
As a mother of two with many passions, how do you manage your time and stay organized? Do you have any tips for other busy parents?
Having a structured schedule is key. Since having children, I’ve chosen to work 26 hours a week to ensure I have time for myself and can spend the afternoons with my kids.
What sparked your interest in fitness and nutrition, and how do these areas play a role in your daily life and overall well-being?
Before pregnancy, fitness was merely a distraction for me. However, during pregnancy, I learned about nutrition and various sports, which became essential to me. Now, fitness and good nutrition are integral parts of my life, helping me maintain balance and well-being.
How did you get into photography, and what do you enjoy most about capturing moments through the lens?
I’ve loved posing for photos since childhood. The interplay of light and tones in photography fascinates me. Taking photos boosts my confidence, and I believe it’s important for women to feel good about themselves, regardless of societal standards.
What have been some of your most memorable travel experiences, and how do they inspire you in your everyday life?
Traveling from a young age taught me to face my fears and embrace independence. My adventures, whether living in the jungle or traveling in a caravan, have been incredibly enriching. These experiences inspire me to plan adventurous trips with my children and continue exploring new places.
You’ve done some photo shoots and have an interest in fashion. What draws you to this world, and how do you see your style evolving?
Social media has opened doors for me in the fashion world. Although not a professional, I love the results and feel confident in front of the camera. Fashion today offers diverse styles and opportunities that I find exciting.
You want to share your experiences with women living in stressful times. What message would you like to convey to them, and how do you think your journey can inspire others?
My mother taught me to always see the positive side of any situation, a mindset I apply daily. To women facing stress, I say: don’t let it overwhelm you. Stay positive, because things usually turn out well. Women worldwide share similar challenges and emotions, and it’s crucial to be strong and united.
