At Espace Louis Vuitton in Beijing, the Fondation Louis Vuitton presents Painting from Nature — a vivid dialogue between two artists, two eras, and two approaches to abstraction.
Marking the 100th anniversary of Joan Mitchell’s birth, the exhibition celebrates her expressive abstract landscapes, filled with rhythm, light, and emotion. Her large-scale works, created through bold, physical gestures, are shown in conversation with paintings by Megan Rooney — a contemporary artist who explores space and memory through immersive, gestural brushwork.
Both artists use painting as a physical and emotional language, blurring the line between nature and inner landscape. Their works fill the space with energy, movement, and colour, inviting viewers into an unspoken dialogue.
Among the guests at the opening were Louis Vuitton ambassadors actress Zhu Zhu and artist Xu Minghao.
Painting from Nature is open at Espace Louis Vuitton Beijing until 19 October.
