With her latest conceptual collection, “Creation,” Melika Rostami delves into the origins of existence, reinterpreting the biblical myth of Adam and Eve through the lens of contemporary fashion. Inspired by Michelangelo’s iconic fresco “The Creation of Adam,” the collection is a poetic fusion of visual storytelling, textile sculpture, and philosophical reflection.
“Creation” is not merely clothing — it is a symbolic act, where the body becomes a canvas and each silhouette a metaphor for fall, awakening, and new beginnings.
At the heart of the narrative are Adam and Eve — molded from red soil, destined to guard Eden, yet cast out, igniting the birth of the present world. This transition is echoed in the garments through expressive silhouettes, layered symbolism, and tactile contrasts. Earthy tones, raw textures, intricate draping, and metallic accents evoke themes of innocence lost and transformation found.
“Creation” invites the viewer to engage in an emotional dialogue with the past while remaining rooted in the now — a collection where fashion becomes a form of mythology, and each piece a dance between what was and what is yet to come.
