Diana Sirokai is a plus-size model, body-positive activist, influencer and just an incredible personality! Diana will tell us about self-love, her path to success and will give us a dose of inspiration to believe in ourselves!
Why did you choose to pursue a career as a model?
It has always been my passion to help women find self-love and I’ve always loved the camera. I thought if I can make it to a billboard, women like me would feel inspired and represented.
Looking back, do you remember the moment when you realized that you’re popular?Yes! When I started getting recognized in different countries. I remember walking in time square and some people run up to me to tell me how much I inspire them and they love my work.
Can you name a photoshoot or a project that made you famous?
I would definitely say it was the recreation I shot with my favorite photographer Karizza. We recreated a photo of Kim Kardashian to show we are both women with different bodies and just as beautiful. It went super viral all around the world.
What do you think has affected your Instagram subscribers, you’ve already got over a million!?
I believe it’s the self-love inspiration. I always try to keep it as real as possible with my followers and show them different moments of my life. I have an amazing life but I am also a human and I struggle sometimes. I talk about my anxiety and the different struggles I face in life.Next to all the glamorous photos I also post natural ones and I try to show different sides of me so they can relate and I can show that they are not alone.
What is your greatest strength, as a model?
It’s definitely my CONFIDENCE. Confidence is my power.
What is your greatest weakness, as a model? What are you doing to improve on it?
I always aim for more. Sometimes I need to stop and realize that I am doing a great job and I should appreciate my success instead of always thinking of the next thing I could do.
What are the best designers you want to work with? What fashion shows to take part in?
I’ve always been a huge fan of GUCCI so I hope one day I will be able to work with them.
As to your opinion how the plus-size industry is developing, what’s influencing it nowadays?
The plus-size industry has definitely changed and grown so much. I feel really proud to be a part of it. I just believe the modeling industry should represent more sizes and more diversity. It’s not only size 0 and plus. We are all different and unique so we all deserve to be represented.
Do you plan to continue your career as a plus-size model in the future? How do you think you’re helping a plus-size model industry?
Yes, I do. I will always represent women’s empowerment and self-love. In the future, I will also like to move onto acting and represent the same thing in movies. Acting has always been a dream of mine from a very young age so I will work very hard to achieve it.
