As fashion dreams up fantasy worlds, Jacquemus brings us back to earth. Inside the Versailles Orangerie, among lemon trees and soft light, he unfolds a collection that’s less about trend, more about truth. This is his family album — reimagined in linen and cotton.
Archival photos of his grandparents’ farm life introduce the show: carrots, potatoes, proud hands in the soil. Then — garments that feel like memories. Oversized shirts, voluminous skirts, kerchiefs and crochet dresses echoing kitchen cloths and sunlit afternoons in Provence.
The color palette? Southern light — white, sand, canary, seafoam. The textures are humble yet elegant. Accessories wink at the theme: a leather garlic braid, a rosemary handbag, a purse shaped like a leek. Sentimental, but never cliché.
“This is a story about where I come from, and where I’m going,” said Simon.
His grandmother wept in the front row.And we felt that too.
