Dior will show its cruise collection, created by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, on June 17th at the Panathinaikos Stadium in Athens, Greece. This location is famous for the fact that in 1896 the opening and closing ceremonies of the modern Olympic Games were held there.
Panathinaikos Stadium was formerly a hippodrome built in 330 BC. The Greco-Roman Senator Herod Atticus rebuilt it as a 50,000-seat stadium in 144 AD. In 2004, the stadium was again used as an Olympic venue.
The Greek authorities have granted Dior permission to organize photoshoots in various famous locations in Greece, including the Acropolis, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Athenian Agora, the Temple of Poseidon, and the Temple of Zeus, AFP reports. As Europe is starting to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, physical runway shows are once again becoming the gold standard for presenting new collections.
