Rolls-Royce has just presented its new super-exclusive Boat Tail Model, the world’s most expensive car ever. Its price is £ 20 million, and the reason for the huge cost is that the model was designed practically from scratch. It took four years to develop and manufacture a unique car.
The model is called “Boat Tail” due to its transforming rear “deck”. The pressing of the button shifts the synchronized butterfly panels 15 degrees upward, creating a temperature-controlled space in the shade.
The car is equipped with a rotating cocktail table and an extendable umbrella that attaches to the back of the car in case the owner decides to have a picnic in the countryside. Only three exclusive models are planned to be released. The new Rolls Royce also includes 2 refrigerators, a Christofle cutlery and crockery set, and a pair of chairs. All three Boat Tails are unique with customized settings and contents that have been coordinated with their owners.
Rolls Royce does not disclose the names of its customers but shares that one of them already has the original Rolls Royce Boat Tail of 1932 in their collection.
Rolls-Royce Coachbuild’s head of design, Alex Innes, calls Boat Tail a “unique collaboration” between the company and its customers. “Right away, the customers stated they wanted to create something they had never seen before,” Innes said.
