Chanel has showed the result of the restoration of Gabrielle Chanel’s legendary apartment at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. The work, which lasted several months, was directed by the French designer and decorator Jacques Grange. He used archival footage, including the authorship of the famous photographer Robert Doisneau, who filmed the space in 1953.
The French brand says the following: “The apartment, which still has the spirit of Mademoiselle, continues to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the creative world of Chanel, be it fashion, perfumery, cosmetics, watchmaking or jewelry. From colors and ambiance to art and furniture, everything reflects a unique style.”
In the apartment you can see a quilted suede sofa in a color of wet sand in Deauville, chandeliers with camellias and double Cs, favorite Chanel books, antiques from Greece, Egypt, China and Italy. In 2013, the French Ministry of Culture recognized it as a historical monument.
