Afrin, you’re stepping into the fashion industry as a covered model. What inspired you to start this journey, and how has it been so far?
I’ve always believed that fashion has the power to transform not just your appearance, but your confidence and how you carry yourself. For me, this journey began when I realized I could merge my love for fashion with my desire to represent modesty. Although I’ve only done one runway show so far, most of my experience has come from photoshoots, and each one has deepened my appreciation for the artistry behind fashion. It’s been an incredible process of self-discovery where every new shoot teaches me something new and brings me closer to my vision. I’m grateful for the connections and opportunities and excited for the path ahead.
Many people look up to you as a role model. What message do you hope to share with young women who want to enter the fashion industry while staying true to their values?
My message is simple. You don’t have to choose between your values and your dreams. The fashion world is evolving, and there is space for all voices and perspectives. I want young women to know they can build a career that reflects their beliefs, identity, and passion. Stay authentic, pursue your goals with integrity, and know that your uniqueness is your power. Modesty and style are not opposites. Embracing both can be incredibly powerful. Never feel like you need to change who you are to succeed.
As someone new to the industry, what’s one thing about modeling that surprised you the most?
What surprised me most is the incredible teamwork behind every shoot. It’s not just about standing in front of a camera. It’s about collaboration. Photographers, stylists, makeup artists, and designers all bring their creativity together to bring a vision to life. It’s humbling to be part of something so collective and artistic. I’ve come to see modeling as a form of storytelling, and every experience is an opportunity to grow.
Your personal style blends modesty with fashion-forward looks. How would you describe your style, both on and off the runway?
My style is about blending modern fashion with timeless elegance, always rooted in modesty. On the runway, I want my look to express confidence, grace, and individuality. I’m drawn to bold, creative pieces, but always ones that respect my values. Off the runway, I love minimalist classics with a twist. Think tailored suits, elegant dresses, and standout accessories. For me, style isn’t just about what you wear. It’s about how you wear it.
Being a full-time student in biomedical science while pursuing modeling sounds like a lot to juggle. How do you balance your time and energy between both worlds?
It’s definitely a challenge, but it’s one I fully embrace. Time management is essential, whether I’m scheduling study blocks or planning shoots. Staying organized, setting priorities, and maintaining discipline help me stay on track. I also carve out time to recharge and reflect. The beautiful thing is that both science and fashion are parts of who I am, and the balance between the two adds meaning to everything I do.
You’ve mentioned being passionate about real estate and football. How do these interests keep you grounded, and do they inspire you in your modeling career in any way?
Absolutely. Football has taught me discipline, resilience, and teamwork, qualities that are just as valuable in modeling. Real estate reminds me of the importance of building something lasting and meaningful. These passions help me stay focused and balanced, and they motivate me to keep evolving as a model and as a person.
As a covered model, are there any designers or brands you dream of working with who align with your values and vision?
Yes. Brands like Dior, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton have always inspired me for their elegance and innovation. But I am also passionate about working with modest fashion designers and emerging brands who are changing the narrative. I believe in merging high fashion with modesty, and I would love to be part of that movement. I want to celebrate diversity and authenticity while helping more people feel seen in the fashion world.
What’s your biggest dream for the future? Where do you see yourself in the next few years as you grow your modeling career and beyond?
My dream is to make a global impact in the fashion industry while staying true to my values. I hope to walk international runways, collaborate with inspiring brands, and use my platform to encourage others to embrace who they are. I want to represent modest fashion in mainstream spaces and show that beauty comes in many forms. Beyond modeling, I want to keep learning, growing, and staying connected to what matters most. My goal is to leave a legacy that proves you can follow your dreams without compromising your identity.
