The fashion house Mugler has announced the appointment of Miguel Castro Freitas as its new creative director. He will be succeeding Casey Cadwallader, who has led the brand in recent years.
Castro Freitas, a Portuguese designer with over 20 years of experience in the luxury fashion industry, is a graduate of Central Saint Martins (2004). He began his career at Dior under John Galliano and later worked with renowned fashion houses such as Yves Saint Laurent (under Stefano Pilati) and Lanvin (alongside Alber Elbaz)
He has also held key roles at Christian Dior under Raf Simons, leading the atelier, as well as heading the women’s line at Dries Van Noten and serving as the creative director of Sportmax. Despite maintaining a low public profile and lacking a strong social media presence, his name is well-recognized in industry circles.
“Miguel intuitively understands the essence of Mugler. His unique vision, extensive experience, and deep connection to the brand’s DNA made him the natural choice,” stated Danièle Lahana-Aidenbaum, Global President of Mugler Fashion & Fragrance.
Castro Freitas will officially take on his new role on April 1, with his debut Spring/Summer 2026 collection set to be unveiled this fall at Paris Fashion Week.
