Gucci has opened a new flagship boutique called “Gucci Gaok”. Located in the trendy Itaewon district of Seoul, the four-story building is inspired by traditional Korean “gaok” (가옥) houses. The boutique covers an area of over 1,015 square meters.
This time, Alessandro Michele turned to Korean artist, Park Seung Mo, to design a façade that depicts forests created with stainless steel wire. The multi-colored lighting changes throughout the day and will also change depending on the season and special holidays. The boutique can rightfully be considered a new attraction in the area.
When it comes to the interior, Michele’s signature aesthetic is found throughout. Bright metal tiles in a disco style adorn the walls of the boutique, while the furniture and carpets create a sense of coziness and luxury at the same time. The emphasis is placed on a spiral staircase leading to a variety of exhibitions including jewelry, accessories, home furniture, ready-to-wear, and more. There is also a hidden room with classic furnishings for private buyers.
